South Carolina AHEC Emergency & Disaster Medicine Summit

Overview: Participants will have the opportunity to select from the following educational subject areas on day one: Pre-Hospital Care (EMS), Emergency Nursing, Disaster Medicine and General Interest.  The second day features a panel of experts who will consider the decisions  communities face  trying to prevent, prepare for, or respond to massive public health emergencies.  Nursing and EMT Continuing Education Credits available.

Overview: The Mission of this workshop is to bring together nurse aide instructors, who are responsible for the training of nurse aides, for the purpose of learning, sharing ideas, networking and assuring consistency of excellence in nurse aide training programs. This workshop is designed for nurse aide training coordinators and instructors for long term care settings. Training programs may send multiple participants. past conference evaluations indicate a need to conduct a conference centered on skills demonstrations. The Conference Committee reviewed the past years’ reports on testing pass rates from Promissor, and the following skills have the lowest overall scores: Blood Pressure, Pulse, Respirations, Weight, Ambulation, Mouth Care, Perineal Care and Catheter Care. They will be presented and demonstrated during the Concurrent Sessions. participants will also be given the opportunity to “Ask the Expert” questions related to their programs.
