Volunteer Training for the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS)
A Success !

South Carolina became better prepared to respond to an outbreak of panflu or any other biohazard on March 24, 2007. Over 120 health professions gathered at Seawell Conference Center to receive training for rapidly and safely dispensing the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) is to citizens of South Carolina should the need arise.
SNS Training
Pharmacists, nurses, and pharmacy technicians learn the basics of
Incident Command and legal ramifications of volunteering
as a health care professional during times of disaster.
Designing a POD Participants use schematics of a school to lay out the patient flow for a SNS Point of Dispensing site.
Participants learn to "triage" patients
depending medical
and psychcological needs.

SNS Dispensing Participants practice rapidly and safely dispensing mass quantities of antibiotics that would be necessary to prevent the spread of anthrax or plague.
Participants rehearsed the process of rapidly vaccinating large
numbers of citizens
in the event of a pandemic virus.
