David M. French MD
Dr. French is an Assistant Professor and Director of Prehospital
Medicine in the Department of Medicine, Division of Emergency Medicine,
and the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Medical
University of South Carolina (MUSC). He is board-certified in emergency
medicine and EMS.
He completed medical school at the University
of North Carolina – Chapel Hill and an Emergency Medicine residency at
Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. After serving as
a chief resident, he completed an EMS Fellowship in Charlotte and then
worked as an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and EMS medical
director at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. Afterwards, he
worked in various emergency departments in Dallas, Texas, and functioned
as a medical director for EMS agencies, event medicine teams, emergency
preparedness groups and emergency departments before joining the MUSC
faculty in 2013.
Dr. French is the director of the prehospital
section of emergency medicine, as well as the prehospital medical
director for MUSC. He serves as an associate medical director for
Charleston County EMS and assists with medical direction for various
local fire departments and other EMS agencies. He is a member of the SC
EMS Medical Advisory Council and the ACEP EMS Committee.
Outside of work, Dr. French enjoys spending time with his wife, Ivy, and his two sons.
