Description: Most children who need mental health services do not receive them. This is often due to a shortage of trained mental health providers, as well as barriers like rural locations. Untreated mental health difficulties can have a significant impact on academic performances, including lower grades, increased absences, increased risk of school dropout, and increased behavior problems in the classroom. In order to address some of the barriers to accessing mental health care, the MUSC school-based telemental health program brings high-quality, evidence-based mental health services to children in school settings. This program will discuss trauma with strategies to support the child experiencing a traumatic event in the school setting.
Handouts: No handouts are currently available.
