Description
Students will receive a brief overview of telehealth in South Carolina, including history, terminology, and future directions. This course includes a pre-test, assignment, post-test and evaluation. The module objectives are aligned to the following SC Health Science 2 Standard: Foundations of Healthcare Professions Standard 11: Information Technology in Healthcare: Apply information technology practices common across health professions. 11.1 Identify components of an electronic health record (EHR) and/or electronic medical record (EMR): diagnostic tests, history and physical, medications, patient demographics, progress notes, treatment Plan. 11.5 Explore different types of health data collection tools: phone application, telemedicine/telehealth.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss how the history of telehealth has contributed to the current application of this technology in healthcare.
  • Describe the modalities of telehealth and clinical applications.
