Description: The management of elevated blood pressure among stroke patients represents a major consideration in primary care. The specific current protocol for blood pressure treatment and management in this high-risk population are not well understood and incorporated in primary care practices. This SCHOOLS presentation will review the 2014 Secondary Stroke Prevention Guidelines as related to blood pressure management, describe the unique blood pressure complexities involved with the stroke patient, and describe recent secondary prevention trial results and hypertension management.
