This SCHOOLS presentation is a counterpart for its sister article in the latest edition of Progressnotes and will discuss the importance of controlling hypertension, the leading risk factor for stroke, in African Americans. He will also provide guidance on recognizing and treating silent and whispering strokes, often underdiagnosed in African Americans because the symptoms are more subtle, as well as recommendations from reducing the risk of stroke in children with sickle cell disease. *'Taking Requests' means that the venue has not yet decided to either open or close for this program. Clicking on 'Request' sends an email to the specified venue to let them know you would like to attend the program at their facility. It also puts you on a list to be notified if the venue decides to 'Open' (or 'Close').

Note: Participants on the requestors list are not automatically registered when a venue changes to 'Open'. They still need to login to the SCHOOLS system and register.

Also, Participants can register for a program at one venue now and change to another later, as long as the venue is open and is not full."
