Kathia Valverde BA in Accounting, BA, Liberal Arts

Kathia Valverde holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, and Liberal Arts from Costa Rica. She is also certified in English, Early Childhood Education, Reproductive Health, LGBTQIA Health, and Community Health Work. Leveraging her language expertise, Kathia has provided interpretation and translation services for prominent organizations, including South Carolina DSS, family court, and various legal and medical entities.

As the Former Coordinator of the HABLA Project at the University of South Carolina’s College of Social Work, Kathia collaborated with DSS to address language barriers and advocate for Latine communities across South Carolina. She later served as the State Reproductive Health Coordinator at PASOs, leading a statewide initiative to improve reproductive health for Latino communities. Additionally, she worked as Project Coordinator for PASOs and CCHA, supporting youth ages 14 to 24, and as a Training Specialist with the Center for Community Health Alignment.

Currently, Kathia is the Program Manager at The Nolan Laboratory – Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics Laboratory of Zoonotic & Infectious Disease Arnold-School of Public Health, University of South Carolina. A recognized leader and advocate, she has presented at numerous panels and conferences nationwide and actively serves on community councils, committees, boards, and local school initiatives. Her passions include health equity, racial justice, and advancing the rights of Latine communities.
