Melissa Plummer
Melissa Plummer is the
AVP of Transfer, Faculty Development and Academic Advising at OC Tech. She brings 20 years of experience teaching Anatomy and Physiology to her work in higher education. Throughout her teaching career at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, she has been committed to helping students understand complex scientific concepts, develop confidence in their abilities, and prepare for careers in health care and other science-related fields. She holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Botany from North Carolina State University.
Before entering higher education, Melissa worked as an agricultural research specialist at North Carolina State University, contributing to plant-breeding research focused on developing disease-resistant crop varieties. She later brought her scientific background and passion for student success to OCtech, where she has served in both instructional and academic leadership roles. She was named OCtech’s Educator of the Year in 2011 and now serves as Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs, providing leadership in university transfer, academic advising, and faculty development.
