Carolyn Bogdon MSN, FNP-BC

Ms. Carolyn Bogdon, MSN, FNP-BC, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Caldwell University in Caldwell, New Jersey and completed her Master of Science degree at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. She has five years of experience as a registered nurse in the virtual, ambulatory and most extensively, critical care and Emergency Department settings.

As Director for Emergency Department Medication Assisted Treatment Program under a $1.5 million and renewed $2.5 million SC DHHS state proviso, Ms. Bogdon has facilitated the conceptualization and continues to oversee the implementation of this program throughout the state. This innovative program allows highly motivated, treatment seeking patients in the emergency department to receive “on demand” access to evidence based addiction treatment. The program is currently operationalized in three emergency departments in the state. The program hopes to expand to additional sites in 2019.

As a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Ms. Bogdon maintains special DEA licensure to clinically treat patients with opioid use disorder in the MUSC outpatient Center for Drug and Alcohol Program. She recently has become the first and only APRN in SC permitted to prescribe controlled substances, specifically buprenorphine, via telehealth as approved by the SC BON and SC BOME. Within the approved protocol, she is able to expand critical access to life saving addiction treatment within the public SC drug and alcohol system. Lastly, Ms. Bogdon holds a clinical instructor appointment within the MUSC College of Nursing working with APRN students.
