Dr. Gilbert Boissonneault PhD
Gilbert Boissonneault is Professor in the Division of Physician Assistant Studies at the Medical University of South Carolina. He joined the Medical University of South Carolina in 2012 as Director of the Physician Assistant Studies program and currently serves as Admission Coordinator. Dr. Boissonneault received his PhD degree from the University of Illinois in 1982 in Human Nutrition. In 1986 he joined the Clinical Nutrition program faculty at the University of Kentucky, teaching graduate students and conducting research in nutritional immunology and lipid effects on cardiovascular disease risk. Dr. Boissonneault became a Physician Assistant in 2001 and changed the emphasis of his teaching from nutrition to physician assistant studies. He has primarily provided healthcare in the area of family medicine and occupational. The proudest moments of his career occur when he witnesses PA students graduate and move on to provide outstanding health care to their patients.
