Katherine Gaul MA

Katie Gaul is the Director for the South Carolina Office for Healthcare Workforce and brings with her a deep commitment to service, a well-grounded understanding of state health workforce data systems and experiences in providing data to inform policy. Katie oversees SCOHW's research and services portfolio, supports the efforts of SC AHEC and helps stakeholders across the state with their healthcare workforce data needs. 

Katie was senior policy analyst in the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices Health Division and a research associate with the health workforce and rural health research programs at the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research at UNC Chapel Hill. She also served as deputy director of the HRSA-funded Health Workforce Studies at the University of Albany, SUNY. Katie's expertise is built from assisting in the development of state health workforce data systems in multiple states; supporting state and national projects related to health workforce education, practice, and policy; and connecting researchers, policy makers, and others to timely and objectives health workforce data and information. 

An Iowa native, Katie received her BS in geography from Appalachian State and her MA in geography from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
