Elizabeth Brown PhD, MPA

Elizabeth A. Brown, Ph.D., M.P.A. is an academic educator and health services researcher who focuses on social determinants of health (SDOH), particularly race/ethnicity, access to primary care, health care policy, and chronic conditions. She is also interested in examining privilege as a SDOH and the effects of racism with health care providers, students, faculty, and staff. She is a member of AcademyHealth, which is the national Health Services Research organization. She currently serves on AcademyHealth's State Health Research Interest Group Advisory Committee (2019-2021). She is serves on the health policy committee for the League of Women Voters. Dr. Brown was a Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) Fellow (2015-2018) and was recognized for her scholarly work by both AcademyHealth and MUSC. In 2017, AcademyHealth awarded her the Diversity Scholars Network Travel Scholarship to present research at AcademyHealth's annual research meeting in New Orleans. In 2018, MUSC recognized her as a University Honor Graduate. Dr. Brown received her Ph.D. in Health & Rehabilitation Science (health services research track) from MUSC.
