Description
This workshop will provide a conceptual frame for understanding substance use disorders by utilizing the bio-psycho-social-spiritual experiential model. Applying this model, participants will be given information on how substance use disorders impact families with a focus on children and attachment.

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Provide a conceptual frame for substance use disorders and its impact on children, attachment and families.
  • Define characteristics of children and families impacted by substance use disorders for early identification and intervention.
  • Examine intervention strategies to support children of addicted families.
Disclosures
The Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) is a multi-year initiative supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to address barriers to access in rural communities related to substance use disorder, including opioid use disorder.
