Description
This lecture series provides an overview of chemotherapy to include standard and newly approved therapies, safe handling, patient education, and management of common side effects. It may serve as a review for seasoned nurses and advanced practice nurses or an introduction for those new to cancer care. The goal of this series is to offer nurses and advanced practice nurses necessary information and skills to provide safe and valuable care to patients with cancer.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss recent advances in drug therapy for cancer.
  • Review methods for patient education.
  • Examine common therapies for cancer.
  • Develop a chemotherapy safety plan.
  • Describe the management of side effects of cancer therapy.

Verification of attendance Attendance will be verified through completion of the CE Participant Form and also by signature/initials on sign – in roster. Certificate of attendance A certificate of attendance will be awarded to participants who have completed and turned in a CE Participant Form and an evaluation. Participants MUST attend 90% of the program to receive the allotted contact hours for that program. Partial credit will not be given. Conflict of Interest Statement Planners, Faculty and content specialists must disclose any conflicts of interest and will inform the audience of any such conflicts prior to beginning their presentation. In order to ensure balance, independence, objectivity, and scientific rigor at all programs, the planners/faculty must make full disclosure indicating any relationship with pharmaceutical companies, biomedical device manufacturers and/or corporations whose products or services are related to pertinent therapeutic area. Commercial Support Participants will be made aware of any commercial support by information provided with handouts. Exhibitors and any promotional information will be kept separate from the education activity.
