Description: In this 1 hour webinar, we will cover the foundations of immunity, with particular emphasis on how your body defends against viral pathogens. We will discuss why herd immunity is so critical for preventing spread of pathogens in a populations, and how vaccination works to help prevent that spread. Particular focus will be paid on the novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, in addition to current strategies to develop a vaccine for this virus. We will address the question for how long it will take to develop a vaccine for SARS-CoV-2 to prevent spread of COVID-19, comparing the current estimates to other clinical trials for vaccines and other drugs.
