Description
Participants will learn about the risk of bloodborne pathogens in the healthcare field along with prevention strategies. This course includes a pre-test, assignment, post-test and evaluation. The module objectives are aligned to the following SC Health Science 2 Standards: Foundation of Healthcare Professions Standard 7: Safety Practices: Identify existing and potential hazards to clients, co-workers, and self. Employ safe work practices and follow health and safety policies and procedures to prevent injury and illness. 7.2 Differentiate, discuss, and when appropriate demonstrate methods of controlling the spread and growth of microorganisms: bloodborne pathogen precautions.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Define bloodborne pathogens.
  • Explain the occupational standards related to bloodborne pathogens.
