The training is to serve as an overview of anxiety in a pediatric population.Though there may be an understanding about anxiety in general, it is often difficult to identify anxiety in children. This course will describe anxiety, how it presents in children, and how interventions are applied for children with anxiety.

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • list diagnostic criteria for anxiety
  • list the different anxiety disorders
  • identify causes of anxiety and its prevalence
  • recognize symptoms of anxiety in children
  • identify other disorders often misdiagnosed when a child has anxiety
  • list treatments for anxiety and identify inappropriate interventions for emotional disorders
