The training is to serve as an overview of trauma response in a pediatric population. Trauma presents differently in children at different ages and often trauma is reprocessed as a child ages. Its impact is global and trauma response is often misidentified and mistreated. This course will describe the impacts of trauma, how it presents in children, and how interventions are best applied for children with trauma experience.

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • identify prevalence of traumatic events
  • recognize symptoms of trauma in children

  • list treatments for trauma disorders and identify inappropriate interventions for trauma disorders
