Description
Opioid addiction is a significant public health concern. It has devastating consequences for those affected by it. This course is targeted to a broad healthcare audience, including individuals with either basic or more advanced levels of medication-assisted treatment experience. The goal is to define the scope of the problem and giving definitions of opioids and the processes involved in opioid addiction. This training will focus on discussing referrals for patients to the local 301 offices as well as the barriers patients have while in treatment.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Explain how to make referrals into the 301 System.
  • Describe the medications typically prescribed to treat opioid addiction and how they are used.
  • Discuss the barriers to treatment where opioid abuse is indicated.

The Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) is a multi-year initiative supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to address barriers to access in rural communities related to substance use disorder, including opioid use disorder
