Description
It has been 32 years since the passing of Americans with Disabilities Act and healthcare is still behind in providing accessible services. Many of our partner clinics need to update their systems and the way they provide care in order to be compliant with ADA. At the end of this session, attendees will have a greater understanding of ADA, how ADA applies to their work, and next steps to ensure that they are providing equitable, accessible care.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the requirements for medical providers through disability legislation and laws.
  • Understand reasonable modifications to policies, practices, and procedures to ensure equitable care for all individuals and provide examples
  • Evaluate if their clinic is providing appointments that are accessible and identify steps to take to ensure that their clinic is providing accessible appointments
