Description
Emergency contraception is an essential option for preventing pregnancy after sex, but many users face barriers. This session will describe different forms of emergency contraception, some of the barriers to access, and how clinic staff can help patients get emergency contraception more easily when they need it. We will use case studies to discuss different counseling scenarios and polling to interact with the audience.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the importance of access to emergency contraception and the major barriers to access.
  • Describe the different options for emergency contraception and the pros and cons of each.
  • Identify factors that can affect the efficacy of emergency contraceptive pills.
  • Describe innovative solutions to access barriers
  • Describe how clinic staff can facilitate EC access for patients
