Description
As the population continues to age and live longer, brain research focuses on brain changes and dementia. Healthcare workers today are often first responders in assessing physical and mental symptoms of aging. Knowledge of normal versus abnormal symptoms is helpful in getting clients and their family members the best resources available. This workshop will address the following: • The normal aging brain • Dementia risk factors • Assessment tools • Alzheimer Disease and Dementia: factors that contribute to each • Early signs of mild cognitive impairment and dementia • Alzheimer management • Steps to facilitate safety

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify dementia risk factors.
  • Explain mild cognitive impairment.
  • Discuss methods of managing Alzheimer’s Disease.
