Description
This course will review the incidence, evaluative criteria and treatment approaches for Parkinsons Disease in Physical Therapy practice. It will cover traditional treatment approaches and updated models. The importance of exercise, safety and stretching will be covered with specific interventions that will be applicable for therapists to teach patients and care givers.

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the cardinal signs and symptoms of Parkinson's Disease.
  • Examine the influences of co-morbidities in Parkinson's Disease.
  • Devise a comprehensive plan of exercise and safety for Parkinson's Disease intervention in your clinic.
  • Develop a home exercise program and follow-up plan upon discharge from the plan of care
