Description
This course presentation will be a viewing of a live webinar presentation presented in July 2023. It is presented by the Training Institute on Strangulation Prevention and made possible by the Mcleod Forensic Nurse Training Program HRSA grant. The purpose of this course is to bring further information and knowledge to topics of strangulation including “Because We Didn’t Know,” “If We Only Knew- All Things Medical,” “How Do you Know- Investigators,” “How Do you Prove It- All Things Legal,” and “They Have a Right to Know- Victim Advocacy.” This course will help the participant to understand all aspects of a SARRT team members role in caring for a strangulation patient. A SANE nurse will be present in each viewing to answer questions.

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Justify the need for Strangulation training.
  • Identify immediate and delayed signs and symptoms of Strangulation.
  • Discuss the importance of trauma-informed interviewing.
  • Discuss the importance of seeking care and the lethality of Strangulation.
  • Identify resources and long-term consequences for Strangulation survivors.
