Description
During this course participants will get a better understanding of medication safety in the diabetes world. Learn more about natural products and updates to new products that as a pharmacy tech may start to see more in the pharmacy. And lastly, participants will assess their current risk of burn out and learn effective communication tools and skills to be applied at the workplace.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify opportunities for reducing patient harm with prescribing, preparing, and administering medications in relation to diabetes management.
  • Compare different prescriptions and over the counter medications for diabetes treatment.
  • Utilize available tools and strategies to improve medication safety and decrease patient harm.
  • Define complementary, alternative and integrative medicine practices.
  • Discuss the regulation of natural products, including associated laws that govern the sale of natural products.
  • Discuss legal implications associated with the use and sale of hemp alternatives.
  • Identify how vaccines work with the immune system to develop lasting immune response.
  • Discuss legal and regulatory updates impacting the provision of immunizations.
  • Identify updates to the ACIP recommended vaccines for pediatric and adult populations.
  • Identify current risk of burn out in the workplace.
  • Explain different signs/symptoms of burn out and strategies to minimize risk of burn out.
  • Discuss different strategies to have effective communication in the workplace.
  • Practice using effective communication in group scenarios.
