Description
This session will educate participants from a public health standpoint discussing diabetes and how it is linked to other health issues, the affected population, the status of SC, and what must be done to combat the increasing numbers.

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the different types of diabetes
  • Recognize the myths about diabetes
  • Describe the health issues and long-term risks of diabetes
  • Explain the diabetes statistics for South Carolina
