Patients with personality disorders can present a myriad of difficulties for the mental health professional. The purpose of this workshop is to learn the different characteristics of each DSM-5-TR personality disorder, how to recognize them more efficiently in your practice and to become familiar with treatment strategies. We will also discuss why personality disorders are classified as they are and what changes to those classifications may be made in the future.

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the 4 classes of personality disorders.
  • Identify the symptoms for each type of personality disorder and be familiar with ways to assess for them.
  • Recall basic treatment strategies for personality disorders.
Pee Dee AHEC’s conflict of interest policy requires faculty to disclose any real or apparent commercial financial affiliations related to the content of their presentations/materials. Speakers have signed a vested interest form declaring any conflict of interest in education activities.
