Description
The Safe Patient Handling and Mobility (SPHM) Summit of the Carolinas covers a spectrum of crucial topics in healthcare. Speakers will highlight innovative technologies, evidence-based practices, and collaborative approaches to enhance safety. We will emphasize a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, integrating mobility, bariatrics, skin integrity, patient engagement, fall prevention, and ergonomic considerations for the well-being of both patients and healthcare providers.

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • demonstrate the process in how our healthcare system developed a pilot to systemwide early mobility practice.
  • demonstrate how data collection process is utilized to show outcomes that impact future decisions in the healthcare system.
  • process how data impacts multiple clinical practices, the mission of the healthcare system, and how you develop presentations to connect to the heart.
  • discuss how bariatric mobility and skin integrity affect the patients ability move.
  • discuss how early mobility in the ICU plays a huge role in delirium prevention for babies.
  • demonstrate 3 ways to engage patients of size to standing on legs safely.
  • name 3 effective aids in safely repositioning a patient in bed.
  • verbalize how to communicate effectively with a team member.
