Description
Domestic violence is a pervasive public health issue. This course examines how domestic violence may be defined, the prevalence of domestic violence, and the intersection between intimate partner violence, stalking, and homicide. Screening/assessment strategies and interventions that may promote safety and stabilization for those impacted by domestic violence will be explored. Resources available to assist victims/survivors of domestic violence and their loved ones will be discussed.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Define domestic violence.
  • Discuss the prevalence of domestic violence.
  • Describe the intersection between intimate partner violence, stalking, and homicide.
  • Describe screening strategies for domestic violence.
  • Explain at least two interventions that can be used to promote safety and stabilization for victims/survivors of domestic violence.
  • Identify resources available to assist victims/survivors of domestic violence.
