Description
This dynamic and interactive TCRN review course is designed and developed to prepare nurses specializing in trauma care to take the TCRN examination. Course topics will Include: • Succeeding at the TCRN Exam • Shock (hypovolemic shock, septic shock, and obstructive shock) • Psychosocial Aspects of Trauma • Professional Issues (trauma designation, legal issues, performance improvement, evidence-based practice, disaster management) • Surface and Extremity Trauma (Wounds, burns and orthopedic trauma) • Trunk Trauma (chest, abdominal and genitourinary trauma) • Obstetrical Trauma • The Continuum of Trauma Care (injury prevention, pre-hospital care, Intra-hospital care, rehabilitation, end of life issues) • Head, Neck and Facial Trauma • Interactive Group Exercises

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Assess and provide emergency nursing care to the patient with head and neck trauma.
  • Assess and provide emergency nursing care to the patient with chest, abdominal, and genitourinary trauma.
  • Describe appropriate nursing interventions and medical treatment modalities for surface and extremity trauma.
  • Integrate knowledge, skills, and ability to enhance the care of the trauma patient.
  • Describe aspects of the trauma continuum of care.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills necessary to provide professional /ethical care to trauma patients.
