Description
The purpose of this course is to assist with preparing for the Nursing Professional Development (NPD) certification exam. Content will include evolvement of NPD practice, education principles/theories, program/project development, the teaching/learning environment, leadership, communication and ethical/legal considerations. Additionally, testing preparations and strategies will be discussed. Two-Day Course: 8:30am - 4:30pm (both days)

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the evolvement of Nursing Professional Development (NPD).
  • Describe key components of the Nursing Professional Development Practice Model.
  • Identify core competencies for the NPD practitioner.
  • Discuss NPD practice standards.
  • Differentiate teaching/learning theories.
  • Identify teaching strategies to include technology.
  • Identify considerations for Program/project management.
  • Examine leadership as it applies to NPD practice.
  • Discuss Legal/ethical considerations for NPD practice.
  • Explore strategies for preparing for the NPD certification.

    Pee Dee AHEC (Area Health Education Center) is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by South Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Upon successful completion of this program, attendees will receive 13 contact hours.
