Description
This program is designed to provide current information about the changes in law in terms of Social Security Disability. "How to" Techniques are examined that can be applied in everyday situations. This program will provide a complete background and current process for the regulations, rulings, and case interpretations that make preparing and presenting a Social Security Disability case extremely difficult and frustrating. Tips from the experience of navigating clients through the process will be presented.

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Provide a comprehensive overview of the Social Security Disability process.
  • Discuss the important FIVE STEP sequential evaluation process.
  • Explain the process for evaluating claims at each level of appeal.
  • Identify tips that can be applied to common disability situations to assist individuals in need of disability benefits.
  • Identify the distinction between Social Security Disability and Workers' Compensation Disability claims.
  • Describe the basic framework of the Social Security Disability system and how this system has come to its current form.
