Description
This interactive session will explore whole woman health across the life course, with a focus on menstrual health, reproductive and sexual health, and perinatal care. Designed specifically for Community Health Workers, the session will connect public health concepts to real-world, community-based practice. Participants will engage in discussion, scenario-based activities, and reflection to strengthen their confidence in addressing sensitive topics, including menstruation, pregnancy, postpartum care, and health literacy. The session will emphasize practical tools CHWs can use immediately to support women, girls, and families, reduce stigma, and improve health outcomes through education, advocacy, and compassionate care.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe key reproductive, menstrual, and perinatal health needs across the life course, from adolescence through postpartum and beyond.
  • Identify practical, community-centered strategies CHWs can use to provide education, reduce stigma, and support women and families in their care.
  • Discover trauma-informed, culturally responsive approaches to conversations around women’s and perinatal health within community settings.
Disclosures
Pee Dee AHEC’s conflict of interest policy requires faculty to disclose any real or apparent commercial financial affiliations related to the content of their presentations/materials. Speakers have signed a vested interest form declaring any conflict of interest in education activities.
