Description
Discover the roles of medical providers in promoting health, wellness, and recovery. Learn about the education and training required for a physician and a physician's assistant, the variety of career settings available, and patient populations treated. Also, learn about the different pathways students can take to enter these professions.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Compare the educational pathways for becoming a Physician Assistant and a Physician.
  • Describe different settings where medical providers work.
  • Identify patient populations treated by medical providers.

The sessions are presented as part of the South Carolina AHEC Health Careers Program targeted at high school, undergraduate, and gap year pre-health students. A certificate of participation is only given to those who attend and complete an evaluation. This program does not meet professional development requirements for practicing health professionals.
