Description
From Case to Care: An Interdisciplinary Health Careers Exploration is an interactive, hands-on activity designed to introduce students to the many healthcare professionals involved in a patient's journey from diagnosis to treatment and recovery. Students will work through a realistic patient case, identify the healthcare professionals needed at different stages of care, and explore how each profession contributes to the healthcare team. Through teamwork, discussion, and problem-solving, students will gain a better understanding of healthcare careers and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in providing quality patient care. Students will also learn about Lowcountry AHEC's health careers program and complete registrations in the AHEC learning portal.

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the roles and responsibilities of different healthcare professionals.
  • Apply critical-thinking and problem-solving skills to a realistic patient scenario.
  • Evaluate the importance of communication and collaboration among members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
