Description
The African American hypertensive patient residing the southeastern region of the United States represents a high-risk and difficult to manage patient. This SCHOOLS presentation will describe the cardiovascular and stroke risks in the African Americans in the southeastern United States and the strategies on how to manage elevated blood pressure. Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the high cardiovascular and stroke risks for the African Americans in the Southeast US.
  • Determine the needed considerations and evidence gaps associated with the high risks of African Americans in the Southeast US.
  • Apply strategies to manage hypertension and risks factors in the African American population in the Southeast.
