Description
This course is intended to increase the participant's knowledge of federal and state laws or regulations associated with controlled substances and recognize the appropriate use with the APN practice and to demonstrate knowledge of common pharmacologic categories of analgesics.

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Distinguish the federal and state laws and/or regulations associated with the prescription of controlled substances and recognize appropriate use within APN practice.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of common pharmacologic categories of analgesics and the potential adverse effects for these drugs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the use of analgesics in pain management, including requirements for documentation.
