Although healthy children in general appear to have a lower risk of developing severe complications from Covid-19 than adults, they have not escaped the effects of the pandemic. Studies are reporting a rise in cases of pediatric depression, anxiety, and even suicidal ideation. This course reviews the most common pediatric mental health illnesses found post-pandemic, demonstrates assessment tools, and lists treatment options available.

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • List the most common psycho-social manifestations related to Covid-19.
  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of common mental health concerns reported post Covid-19.
  • Describe evidence-based treatment options for pediatric Covid-19 related psychological conditions.
This program is supported by funding from the Health Equity Initiative, in partnership with the SC Office of Rural Health (SCORH) and SC Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC).
