Description
This program is designed to increase service providers’ knowledge and skillful engagement with mutual aid supports for their clients. Research and anecdotal evidence suggest that client outcomes in mental health, substance use, and co-occurring conditions benefit from the addition of mutual aid supports. These groups and communities offer a distinct form of recovery support, which centers the value of connections through shared experiences.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the rationale for connecting clients to mutual aid supports within their communities and/or virtually.
  • Increase knowledge regarding existing mutual aid recovery supports specific to mental health, substance use, and co-occurring client populations.
  • Consider important elements (ex: cultural humility, person-centered, harm reduction, etc.) within the process of providing these referrals/resources.
