Description
This two-day seminar is designed to prepare nurses, particularly medical surgical nurses, for the medical surgical certification exam and/or assist nurses who want a refresher on current practice trends and the latest information on the challenges associated with today’s complex medical surgical patient. This seminar will include a review of the anatomy and physiology of the following systems: neurological, cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, respiratory, musculo-skeletal, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, endocrine, immunologic, and integumentary, as well as the disorders that occur within these systems. In addition, the legal and ethical implications of nursing issues will be addressed as well as test-taking strategies for the Certification Exam. 8:30am – 4:30pm (both days)

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the anatomy and physiology of major body systems.
  • Discuss common disorders of major body systems, treatment modalities, and nursing interventions to include outcome and evaluative criteria.
  • Analyze underlying etiologies of disruptions in physiologic homeostasis.
  • Discuss test-taking strategies.
