Professor Daniel Lackland interviews Dr. Tom Frieden regarding population hypertension treatment and control. Dr. Frieden served as the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and currently the President and CEO of Resolve to Save Lives, a global health organization focused on preventing cardiovascular disease with an emphasis on high blood pressure. Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify high blood pressure as the major modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular and stroke morbidity and mortality.
  • Emphasize the role of primary care in hypertension management.

  • Describe the impact of home blood pressure monitoring in the management of hypertension.
