Description
This course provides an in-depth overview of the identification, evaluation, management, and procurement process of the potential organ donor. Designed for healthcare professionals, critical care staff, and respiratory therapists. This course examines the multidisciplinary approach required to optimize donor lung viability and improve transplant outcomes.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Review the history of thoracic organ donation.
  • Differentiate the different pathways for organ donation.
  • Define the role of respiratory therapists in organ donation.
  • Review alveolar recruitment techniques.
  • Discuss the preservation techniques utilized after procurement.
