Description
This review course is designed to support emergency nurses in preparing for the CEN certification exam. Through dynamic lectures, engaging graphics, videos, and practice questions, participants will review the core content areas tested on the CEN exam. The course not only builds the knowledge and confidence needed for exam success, but also provides a strong foundation for continued professional growth in emergency nursing. 8:00am - 5:00pm (Both Days)

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Name specific considerations and interventions related to triage, stabilization, management and transfer issues in emergency nursing care.
  • Describe anticipated assessment findings of patients with selected respiratory, medical, cardiovascular, neurologic, toxicologic, environmental, gastrointestinal and genitourinary emergencies.
  • Plan and prioritize interventions of patients with selected respiratory, medical, cardiovascular, neurologic, toxicologic, environmental, orthopedic, psychiatric or gastrointestinal emergencies.
  • Differentiate cardiogenic, obstructive, hypovolemic and distributive shock with regards to assessment and management.
  • Describe the care of various patient populations encountered in emergency care.
  • Describe basic principles of disaster management.
