Description
Florida and South Carolina AHECs are partnering for a virtual discussion about racism and its connection to health inequities in the United States. Participants should watch American Public Health Association webinar "A Path to Reproductive Justice: Research, Practice and Policies" prior to the session (see program handout). During the virtual session, AHEC Scholars and Health Professions Students will learn from each other by discussing concepts from the webinar and strategies to advance racial equity and justice.

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Provide context of racism in reproductive care across multiple impacted groups.
  • Examine current advocacy approaches to advancing reproductive health equity.
  • Identify current federal legislation that addresses the barriers to achieving reproductive justice.
