Description
Differing conflict management styles and ineffective communication often generate problems within organizations. Through the use of teams working together to build a simple puzzle, while being restricted in the ways they will be allowed to communicate, the participants of this workshop will fully experience the natural way people within organizations attempt to solve conflict through ineffective means. This experiential exercise will anchor into the participants’ minds the value of collaboration and help teach the highly effective communication skills needed to create an atmosphere of true team work.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Learn the five most effective communication skills for reducing tension and conflict in any conversation.
  • Learn the five different conflict management styles and be able to determine the instances for which each style is most effective.
  • Practice team-work and collaborative problem solving in order to anchor their learning.
  • Model the skills they learn.
