Description
This training equips practitioners with the knowledge and skills to utilize family mapping as a powerful, systemically focused tool in trauma treatment. Rather than isolating the individual experience, family mapping takes a broad lens approach that highlights patterns of interaction, relational dynamics, and multigenerational influences impacting healing. Participants will learn how to create and interpret family maps that illuminate roles, alliances, stress points, and sources of resilience within the family system. Emphasis will be placed on practicing with real-life scenarios to build applied competency in mapping, while also considering how trauma reverberates across all members of a family. By the end of the training, practitioners will understand how to move beyond the individual and harness family mapping to strengthen relationships, promote safety and connection, and guide holistic treatment planning.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Apply systemic family mapping techniques to identify relational patterns, roles, and multigenerational influences that impact trauma responses across all family members.
  • Practice developing and interpreting family maps using real-life scenarios, with a focus on translating insights into effective, relationship-centered treatment strategies.
  • Utilize a broad lens approach that shifts focus from the individual to the family system, fostering connection, resilience, and collaborative healing within the therapeutic process.
