Description
This training will provide an overview of perinatal substance use, potential fetal and maternal impacts of substance use during pregnancy, and evidence-based tools for engagement in substance use treatment in the perinatal period. Participants will leave the session with a better understanding of how to approach and engage perinatal clients that are using substances.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Increase knowledge of the nature and prevalence of substance use among pregnant people.
  • Increase understanding of the potential impacts of such use on fetal and maternal health outcomes.
  • Report awareness of evidence-based tools for screening, engagement, and referrals for women with substance use during the perinatal period.
