Description
Shame is a pivotal driving factor in addiction. This session will explore the impacts of Shame in relation to Substance Use Disorders. Participants will gain further understanding of how to identify various impacts of shame, how to discuss this with clients, and potential techniques to utilize to assist clients to overcome shame. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss experiences and challenges dealing with shame.

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the impacts of shame on Substance Use Disorder.
  • Identify correlation between Shame and Substance Use Disorders.
  • List potential techniques to utilize in process of overcoming shame.
