Description
This one-day, in-person training is designed for nurses, healthcare professionals, deputy coroners, and forensic pathologists to explore organ and tissue donation and recovery at the critical intersection of lifesaving transplantation and medicolegal death investigation. Participants will gain a practical understanding of the organ and tissue procurement process, including how donation saves and enhances lives, how it affects the professionals involved, and how both organ and tissue preservation align with evidence preservation in medicolegal cases. The course highlights the importance of collaboration, communication, and shared responsibility between healthcare teams and death investigators to ensure ethical, legal, and compassionate outcomes. Through real-world insight and interdisciplinary discussion, attendees will strengthen their ability to navigate organ and tissue donation cases with confidence while maintaining investigative integrity and honoring the gift of donation. This training is offered in partnership with Sharing Hope SC and the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.
